FASHION DIALOGS

2012–Present · Ukraine — Poland — Lithuania
Fashion · Exhibitions · Education · Professional Practice · International Dialogue

Fashion Dialogs is a series of international exhibition, educational, and professional projects that I have coordinated, co-organized, and curated in collaboration with art academies and partner institutions in Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania. This direction has developed at the intersection of costume design, contemporary fashion, art, academic education, and international cooperation.

The first project in this field took place in 2012 in Kaunas, Lithuania, where I coordinated the participation of students from the Lviv National Academy of Arts in an international fashion festival. It became one of the Academy’s early experiences of presenting its students and their creative work within an international fashion environment, while also expanding academic cooperation beyond traditional fine art practices.

An important part of this direction has been the international programme Leopolis for Future. The programme created opportunities for students and young professionals to undertake professional internships abroad, including in the fields of fashion, design, and the creative industries. For me, this experience is particularly important as a model for the transition from academic education to a real professional environment — offering direct exposure to European approaches to design, production, the organization of creative processes, and the fashion industry.

A new stage of Fashion Dialogs is connected with the activities of the Department of Costume Design at the Lviv National Academy of Arts. International cooperation has continued through exhibition projects, lectures, presentations, academic exchanges, and direct interaction between Ukrainian and European students and educators.

One of the central projects of this period was the exhibition Fashion in Times of War. Unbreakable, presenting the creative work of the LNAA Department of Costume Design in Poland. In May 2023, I co-organized the exhibition in Łódź, and in October 2024, the project continued with an exhibition in Poznań.

Created in the context of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the project approached fashion not simply as clothing design, but as a form of cultural expression, resilience, identity, and creative response to contemporary reality. Presenting the work of young Ukrainian students and designers abroad also became a way of sustaining professional and cultural dialogue between Ukrainian and European academic communities.

The educational dimension of Fashion Dialogs has developed through the organization of international lectures and academic meetings. In February 2024, I co-organized an online lecture for LNAA students by Professor Dorota Sak from the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Clothing 1990–2024, dedicated to transformations in fashion, costume, and contemporary design practice over the past several decades.

At the same time, I organized lectures and presentations by faculty members of the LNAA Department of Costume Design for students at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan, the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, and the Institute of Fine Arts at Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. These meetings provided an opportunity to present the Ukrainian school of costume design within the European academic environment and to establish direct professional dialogue between students and educators from different art schools.

In parallel, I have participated in international academic exchanges as an educator and lecturer. In 2025–2026, I worked as a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Arts, Jan Kochanowski University, within the project Career Creator – Build Your Professional Future. This experience continued my long-term work at the intersection of creative practice, design, professional education, and international academic cooperation.

Thus, Fashion Dialogs encompasses a much broader field than individual fashion events or exhibitions. It brings together international projects, curatorial and organizational practice, professional internships, lectures, academic exchanges, and teaching. For me, fashion in this context is another language of visual culture — a space where form, material, the human body, art, education, and contemporary cultural identity interact.
