In Presence 5.09, space seems to be composed of several energetic layers interacting with one another.
The composition is structured through alternating horizontal zones. Turquoise-green fields transition into red, yellow, and deep violet bands. Some boundaries remain clearly defined, while others gradually dissolve into neighbouring colours. As a result, the surface is perceived not as a collection of separate planes, but as a unified system in which energy passes from one state into another.
The luminous central zone creates a sense of spatial opening or pause. It seems to separate two more saturated fields while simultaneously connecting them. Rhythmic horizontal lines pass through this space like waves or traces of an invisible signal.
At the same time, the work retains a latent sense of landscape. We may perceive a horizon, water, reflections, or a distant strip of land, yet none of these images becomes definitive. It is once again a “landscape of states,” in which the natural motif exists only as a memory of the structure of the visible world.
Presence 5.09 explores space as a system of interpenetrating energetic layers. Colour, density, and rhythm shift from one field to another, creating a sense of continuous transition. The implied horizon loses its representational function and becomes a boundary between different states — a place where one frequency gradually transforms into another.
