Insomnia VIII reveals a different state of sleeplessness — not dark or anxious, but saturated with light, colour, and inner activity. It is a moment when consciousness cannot come to rest: images, memories, and emotions emerge simultaneously, overlapping and displacing one another.
The painted surface is formed through numerous layers and horizontal movements of paint. Dominant fields of green are interrupted by flashes of yellow, pink, blue, and violet. Rather than describing a specific image, colour becomes a carrier of emotional and psychic energy.
Fragmentary outlines can be glimpsed through the abstract structure, yet they never resolve into a definitive image. Like a thought in a state of insomnia, form approaches recognition only for a moment before dissolving once again into the overall flow.
Textural lines and traces of the painting process create the rhythm of a continuous inner activity. One layer covers another, yet the previous state never disappears completely — it remains as a fragment of colour, a scratch, a contour, or a trace.
Insomnia VIII can be perceived as a kind of map of consciousness without a single centre. It is a space of simultaneous presence — of memory, sensation, colour, and energy that continue to exist even after the image itself has disappeared.
